The Poetry Project
- In the last few weeks we have learned so much about poetry. We have explored different styles, learned how poets use poetic devices, and even written some poetry ourselves. Over the next few weeks you and your group will create a presentation showcasing all you have learned about poetry.
You will need to
- Choose a poem that will be approved by your teacher (this can be a poem we have not studied from your text book or a poem that you find on your own).
- Read and analyze the poem with your group finding poetic devices that help you understand the poem.
- Learn about the poet: Where and when did s/he live? What style of poetry did s/he write? What was important about this poet's style and work? Did his/her life influence the poetry that s/he wrote?
- Decide why the poem is important: What makes it special, interesting, beautiful, or powerful? Why do other people like this poem? What are the themes of the poem? How do you interpret it?
- Put a Google presentation together to display your finding and your poem. You will need to have at least 2 sources (where did you find the poem? where did you learn about the poet/poem?) You should have at least 6 slides: title. poem, devices, poet, meaning, and sources.
